About Dean Mengel Landscape Design

Dean’s Background

I have been involved in horticulture all my life with my parents being the original owners of Oba Nurseries in Dalby of which I later became the owner and manager operating both the plant nursery and the landscape design and construction business. My deviation from horticulture has been Agricultural Engineering both in design and management roles for companies both in Dalby and then moving to Toowoomba in the late 1980s with our young family.

Following requests from prior landscape clients to design gardens for them in their new homes in Toowoomba, I once again found myself investing many extra hours to meet their wishes to the point where my wife and I decided to once again take the plunge into landscape design and construction as well as the potential demand for mature trees in South East Queensland, that business being Toowoomba Tree Farms.

Current Pursuits

These days I no longer am involved in construction as it is the landscape design that interests me most and I enjoy envisaging the final outcome that will enhance a client’s property and accomplish their ideal home lifestyle. I enjoy designing gardens that encompass and seclude, are filled with variety and draw you into thinking, “What’s around the Corner”
